Mid-South Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN)

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has received an 18-month, $7 million award to set up a Clinical Data Research Network (CDRN) that can reach millions of patients and speed the translation of research findings into clinical practice. The Director of HSR, Russell Rothman, MD MPP, is the Principal Investigator of the CDRN.

The Mid-South CDRN consists of:

  • Vanderbilt University Health System
  • Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center
  • Meharry Medical College
  • Vanderbilt Healthcare Affiliated Network (VHAN)
  • Greenway Health

When it is finished, the network will engage over 40 hospitals and hundreds of clinics across the country that reaches millions of patients. Rothman and the CDRN team are expanding and optimizing patient facing tools for collection of patient data, as well as improving current tools for extracting and presenting data for research. The CDRN seeks to change the paradigm of clinical research through the help of electronic health records, information technology and robust research support infrastructure.

With its focus on patient-centered outcomes, the CDRN embodies what the Center for Health Services Research is all about. Visit  https://midsouthcdrn.mc.vanderbilt.edu/    to learn more about the Mid-South Clinical Data Network!
